Chapel House and Quarry Cottage
A stunning renovation of period property in an area of Special Scientific Interest in the Snowdonia National Park, which makes Smugglers Cove one of the most exciting holiday lets on the Welsh coast.
Accommodating 14 + 2 [or + 4 by arrangement] in two adjacent buildings, with 4 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms and 1 double bunk bedroom, two lounge/dining rooms and two kitchens, 1 bathroom and three shower rooms Smugglers Cove is a recently renovated Old Chapel & Cottage [Chapel House] and adjacent 2 storey cottage [Quarry Cottage] laid out as a single Holiday Let Unit for family/ friends reunions, group get togethers and holidays.
The property has been entirely renovated in 2006, having been designed by "Eco Architects" Simmonds Mills with assistance from The Wales Tourist Board, and is constructed of stone, slate, larch, oak and glass with an attractive lime wash finish, and an area of turf roof. As well as having very high insulation, to AECB silver standard, solar powered hot water and full gas fired central heating, each of the two buildings, Chapel House and Quarry Cottage, has a wood burning stove
Chapel House sleeps 10 and is the spacious main building with 3 double bedrooms [one with a four poster bed], I twin bedroom, and 1 double bunk bedroom, three of which are on the ground floor. The Dining area can accommodate 16 around a single table and the lounge area has soft seating for the same number. The kitchen has a large 5 ring gas hotplate and a gas oven. Outside there is a large recreation area and patio with outdoor seats and tables and barbeque.
Quarry Cottage, a separate but adjacent, sleeps 4 and is a two storey cottage,with a double and a twin bedroom, one on the ground floor with direct exterior access as well as interior access. It has its own smaller kitchen, lounge and dining area, seating 4 around the table and with soft seating for 4. There is a gas hob and oven. There is a large shower room/toilet on the ground floor. At the rear of the house there is a secluded Mediterranean style courtyard, seating and barbeque areas.
Both properties are equipped with Fridge [American style in Chapel] TV [ with Free to Air] [26" flat screen in Chapel] Video player/ DVD player/CD player/ radio, ironing board and Iron, and clothes drying horse There are hairdryers in both buildings There is a dishwasher in the Chapel kitchen There is an incoming call telephone in the Chapel. There is usually mobile phone reception on O2 and Orange Networks There is a central chest freezer [in addition to the fridge freezers in the kitchens] and a washing machine and dryer in the facilities building in front of Chapel House.
All bed linen is provided with beds made up on arrival. Towels are not provided. Weekly Rentals start at 3pm Sat and end 10am the following Sat Where applicable, our 3 night weekend breaks start at 3pm Fri and finish at 10am Mon, or 4 night mid week breaks from 3pm Monday to 10am Friday. If you need more capacity we also have 3 holiday chalets only 2 miles away.

Location
Smugglers Cove at Frongoch Boatyard is situated in the Snowdonia National Park, just off the foreshore/beach of the Dyfi [Dovey] estuary, on the A493 approximately 3 miles up the estuary from Aberdyfi and 5 miles from Machynlleth. Ideal for water based activities and sports.
Smugglers Cove Boatyard at Frongoch has the same owners as the Smugglers Cove Holiday Property and is also being renovated as a working boatyard with licensed moorings on the estuary, exclusive access to the estuary foreshore beach, its own slipway and hard standing, and launch facilities for canoes, yachts and boats. The foreshore can accommodate most water based activities and Guests at Smugglers Cove have access to the foreshore/beach and all water based facilities.
The area is also popular with walkers and cyclists. Aberdyfi , 3 miles away , is a popular holiday town; Machynlleth 5 miles away is an attractive country town with its own market, and both have hotels, pubs and restaurants. A leisure club with swimming pool, sauna and gym is two miles away and the well known Centre for Alternative Technology [CAT] a 15 minute drive
Smugglers Cove is located in its own self contained, discreet area of the site, completely hidden from the working area of the boatyard with its own hidden outdoor recreation area with access to the boatyard through an exclusive short tunnel and access from the boatyard to the Dyfi beach , foreshore and moorings through a second tunnel. Guests have their own exclusive parking on the Boatyard right alongside the short tunnel to the Smugglers Cove buildings.

Corris Railway
The Corris Railway is a narrow gauge (2¹ 3²) railway whose origins date back to the 1850's. The line was initially built as a horse-and-gravity-worked tramroad to carry slate from the quarries of Corris Uchaf and Aberllefenni in southern Merionethshire to the nearest navigable point on the Afon Dyfi (River Dovey).
Llanfair Slate Caverns
This old but important slate mine featuring tunnels
and caverns that are all man made and over a 100 years old. The slate in this mine, found in veins between layers of
Pre- cambrian rocks, is among the oldest in the world. As you emerge from the caverns, you face the breath-taking view of Cardigan Bay. From the entrance you can look down at shell Island and the Artro estuary, at low tide the fourteen mile long St Patrick's causeway can be seen.
Tywyn
Tywyn lies in Mid Wales on the sweep of Cardigan Bay, there the mountains meet the sea on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Tywyn has to much offer with activities, restaurants, pubs, shops, tours, the history and geology of the coastline.
