Loch Tay Highland Lodges

Each lodge has been sited to give maximum privacy and optimum views of majestic Loch Tay and the mountains beyond. The beautifully landscaped grounds fall gently to the banks of Loch Tay and there are ample grassy areas for children to play. All lodges are extremely spacious, comfortable and airy and there is abundant private parking. All accommodation is carefully prepared for visitor’s arrival with fresh laundry and bedding (guests are requested to supply their own towels).

All Lodges at Loch Tay are constructed in Scandinavia to exacting specifications and are 2,3 or 4 bed roomed (some en-suite). Each Lodge is individual offering attractive accommodation for a family holiday or peaceful relaxing retreat. Extremely well designed and thoughtfully furnished the lodges are fully equipped for all self-catering needs.All lodges also have colour TV with terrestial channels and a patio table and chairs on the balcony.

Larger lodges have dishwashers and washing machines; a full laundry service is available for those without.

Sitting rooms have generous seating, colour television and some with satellite TV. Electric heating is available in the winter for off season holidays and short breaks. Cots and high chairs are available on request. Staff are happy to provide shopping basics for visitors arrival, specially prepared take away meals can also be ordered from the Boathouse Restaurant and left in lodges ready for guests.

2 Bedroom- Sleeps up to 4
The 2 bedroom lodges have a twin room and a double room with a bathroom ( shower over the bath ). Kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge, most also have freezer and either washing machine or dishwasher. Open plan living/dining area leading out to a covered balcony and loch views. Outside table and chairs to seat 4.

3 Bedroom- Sleeps up to 6
The standard 3 bedroom lodge has a double room, two twin rooms and a bathroom ( with shower over the bath ). Kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Large open plan living/dining area leading out to covered balcony with loch views.

3 Bedroom Deluxe - Sleeps up to 6
This lodge has a double room with en-suite shower, two twin rooms, separate bathroom ( with shower over the bath ), large open plan living /dining area with large covered balcony to the front with loch views and french windows leading from the dining area to a second large balcony. Kitchens are all equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, cooker and microwave .

4 Bedroom Deluxe - Sleeps up to 7 + camp bed
On two floors, this lodge has a downstairs balcony leading to open plan living, dining, kitchen area - kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, cooker and microwave. Also on this floor is a bathroom and one bedroom with full-size bunkbeds. Upstairs is the master double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and its' own balcony under the roof with loch views. A further two bedrooms are upstairs - one is a twin room and one a single room + camp bed. There is a further separate lavatory upstairs.

Boathouse Restaurant:
Completed in 2003 the Boathouse Restaurant has become a focal point of the Loch Tay Highland Lodges Leisure Park. The Boathouse combines superb food with warm hospitality in a staggeringly beautiful location. situated beside the marina its huge picture windows and sun decks allow uninterrupted views over Loch Tay.

 The Boathouse Restaurant is fully licensed and open daily for lunch, snacks and evening meals. The extensive and creative menu offers a variety of highly attractive and simply delicious meals combining the best of ingredients with excellent value. The resident chefs pride themselves on only using the finest and freshest ingredients, all sourced locally.

The dining room is very spacious with impressive bar area and characteristic freestanding open fire. A specially selected wine list includes a good combination of new and old world vintages to complement your meal. The extensive sun decks are perfect for alfresco dinning and barbeques are often held on summer evenings.

Leisure Park Facilities and Activities
Loch Tay Leisure Park Marina is the ideal base for a water sports holiday. The purpose built marina has eighteen boats of various sizes for hire all with outboard motors. Boats can be hired by the hour /day for fishing or cruising on the loch. Alternatively guests are welcome to bring their own craft and moor them for the duration of their holiday.

There are numerous water sports available at Loch Tay Highland Lodges Leisure Park all organised and operated by knowledgeable highly experienced staff. All water sports instructors are fully qualified with a wealth of practical experience. From sailing to canoeing and kayaking tuition is available for all ages and abilities.

Location
Loch Tay Leisure Park is situated in the central highlands on the shores of Loch Tay. Arguably one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs and still within easy driving distance of Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow.

The lodges are just a short drive from the scenic village of Killin and the picturesque Falls of Dochart. Highland Perthshire is renowned for its wealth of historical sites, natural beauty and wildlife. Centrally situated the leisure park makes the ideal base for touring and sightseeing around the Highlands and Central Scotland.

Loch Tay

Loch Tay is a quite superb location for fantastic highland touring and sightseeing in Scotland. Breath taking scenery, majestic mountains, imposing castles and an abundance of wildlife make your stay unforgettable.

Loch Tay is 14 miles long but as it only averages about one mile wide, it is only Scotland's sixth largest loch at 10.2 square miles (26.4 square km). The loch is fed at its eastern end by the rivers Dochart and Lochay and the river Tay starts at the western end at the village of Kenmore on its 120-mile journey to the sea (making it Scotland's longest).

Loch Tay doesn't have a monster (like the one reputed to inhabit Loch Ness) although anglers who go out during the fishing season keep hoping to catch a monster fish. Loch Tay has remained uncommercialised and tranquil, unlike some other areas of open water such Loch Earn, six miles to the south, which has lots of watersport activity. Loch Tay has nothing noisier than a few canoes which can be hired by visitors here.
 
Rising to 3984 feet above Loch Tay (1214 metres) Ben Lawers is the highest mountain in Perthshire but only the 9th highest in Scotland. But rising from Loch Tay and with neighbouring mountains almost as high, it is an important nature reserve and 19,000 acres are now administered by the National Trust for Scotland and the Nature Conservancy Council. Although its flora are protected from sheep, the increasing numbers of hill walkers attracted by relatively easy climbs and great views create other problems. There is an information centre on the Bridge of Balgie road with trails leading from there to the top.

Killin
A very leisurely and beautifully scenic trip, taking in Schiehallion, Aberfeldy, Killin and the delightful little village of Fortingall (featuring the oldest tree in Scotland), nestling at the foot of the eastern end of Ben Lawers. Try to visit Castle Menzies and the House of Menzies near Aberfeldy too.

Castle Menzies
This spectacular sixteenth century castle, restored by the Menzies Clan Society, welcomes visitors. Seat of the Chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 400 years and importantly situated, it was involved in the turbulent history of the Highlands and here Bonnie Prince Charlie rested on his way to Culloden in 1746.

The Crannog Centre
The Scottish Crannog Centre is a popular visitor attraction on Loch Tay. It is a complete reconstruction of how the ancient peoples lived and worked many thousands of years ago. Enjoy a shore-based exhibition and visitor centre displaying some of the original house timbers and objects used by the Iron Age loch-dwellers.

Ben Lawers Visitor Centre

The Trust’s hill ground is a National Nature Reserve, especially for the arctic-alpine flora, and is also of international importance. We manage it in collaboration with Scottish Natural Heritage, to achieve a wide range of conservation objectives for both organisations. These include the long-term survival of the native species of plant and animal and their habitats, protection of the landscape and the remains of the long history of human activity, ‘for the benefit of the nation’.

Dewars World of Whisky
Dewar's World of Whisky is a quite sensational modern visitor centre, featuring a unique interactive exhibition showing the courageous ‘spirit’ of the Dewar family. The blending room is a recreation of the Master Blender's room at the offices in Perth around 1929.

Distillery Tours
A great round day trip is Dalwhinnie(home of one of the six Classic Malts), Edradour ( Scotland 's smallest) and Blair Atholl at Pitlochry, Glenturret ( Scotland 's oldest), at Crieff, then return via Dewars at Aberfeldy ( Scotland 's newest distillery visitor centre) - all have excellent visitor centres and you'll get a free dram in every one!

  • Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point in Europe is just a short ferry ride away.
  • The Road to the Isles from Fort William to Mallaig is a route steeped in history and you can end your trip with a journey on the Jacobean Steam Train.
