Gaer Cottages

Mynach -
or 'Monk' is names after the farm which used to form part of the land owned by monks. Ideal for the larger family, rear double doors lead onto patio area with views down towards river and BBQ area

There are nine farm cottages to be found at Y Gaer.

If you need to forget the stresses and strains of every day life and work you need travel no further than the boundary of this 8 acre holding but just relax and enjoy the tranquility of this peaceful setting At the end of a spacious lawn flows the River Grannell, a gentle trickle in Summer but swollen in December by the Winter rains. The crystal water is home to the local trout and you are invited to fish along a 300 yd. stretch, with the appropriate license.

On the hill there are extensive views across unspoilt open countryside, an ideal place to picnic and spend the day without the need to drive.

The resident animals compete for attention and food and are thoroughly spoiled by visitors who share all their vegetable scraps with them -- but the chickens and ducks in return do produce beautiful, fresh free range eggs for you to enjoy. The large enclosure is also home to a variety of guinea pigs and rabbits.

As Gaer Cottages are open all year round the magnificent indoor swimming pool enables you to relax and enjoy a healthy swim in tropical surroundings, even on Christmas day.

Location

The Grounds - The cottages are surrounded by well kept formal gardens and lawns. The 8 acre grounds contain fields and woods, with the river Grannell flowing through it. It is a haven for wildlife; with a wealth of birds such as red kite, buzzard, swallows and kingfisher as regular visitors. You will see our own Pipistrel bats; and if you are lucky catch a glimpse of an otter or badger.

Swimming Pool - The luxurious indoor heated swimming pool is open all year round. Whatever the outdoor temperature, the water and pool hall is kept at a temperature in the eighties - ideal for leisurely or lengthy swims. An ideal environment for both the young and old to learn how to swim. An Oxford Dipper Hoist is available to give access to the less mobile.

Games Room - A pleasant area for socialising, you may even like to join in the games - pool and table tennis are available. Often a venue for family celebrations and certainly popular at the New Year! It is the perfect venue for conferences, wedding receptions or that special family get together.

Play Area - This area provides a safe environment in which children can play within view of the games room.

In addition to the climbing frame there is a tree fort to be conquered.

Pet's Corner -Y Gaer is home to many animals, sheep with spring lambs and calves; giving endless enjoyment to both children and adults. The hens and ducks are always eager to share your tidbits and it may even encourage them to lay more fresh eggs. They are usually sharing their home with rabbits and guinea pigs.

BBQ - There is built in barbecue and picnic area overlooking the river. The ideal place to enjoy a meal of local trout and a great way to know other visitors.
