Location

Loch Ness
One of Scotland's biggest attractions is the narrow gap of Loch Ness, Britain's deepest body of fresh water, stretching 23 miles from Fort Augustus in the south almost to Inverness in the north. The loch is scenic in its own right, with rugged hills rising steeply from its wooded shores, but visitors don't come here for the views. They come every year, in their hundreds of thousands, to stare across the dark, cold waters in search of its legendary inhabitant, the Loch Ness Monster. A huge tourist trade has grown up around 'Nessie', as the monster is affectionately known.

Boat Hire - try a two centre holiday!
The best way to see the loch is by boat either on a cruise from Inverness or hire a cruiser or yacht. There are also boat trips from Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus. This is an ideal base to enjoy a two centre holiday, two short breaks, one on land and one on the water. This can be arranged easily through UK Leisure Breaks.

The Braveheart Centre - Drumnadrochit
Built to commemorate Scotland's famous War of Independence culminating in the spectacular victory of King Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314 against the forces of Edward II of England. The Braveheart Centre is also a fine tribute to Scotland's other National Hero, William Wallace, who resisted the English forces until his cruel betrayal, torture and execution in 1305, as portrayed in the now famous film, 'Braveheart'.

Out and about
To the north lies the Highland Capital City of Inverness which provides a gateway to the wildernesses of the northern highlands. To the South is Fort Augustus and the locks of the magnificent Caledonian Canal. To the west, the fabulous western highlands coastline and the isles of the Hebrides including, of course, the Isle of Skye.

Drumnadrochit Lodges are situated 17 miles from Inverness, 120 miles from Aberdeen, 150 miles from Glasgow and 175 miles from Edinburgh.
