Location
The surrounding region also boasts some of Wales' finest river, canal, sea and estuary fishing. When you're done fishing, explore nearby Lampeter in the Teifi valley, an historic market town and home to a thriving university. Alternatively, why not visit the charming coastal town of Aberaeron (only 10 minutes away) or spend an evening in Aberystwyth, a bustling town packed with excellent restaurants and bars. In short, it's every coarse fisherman's idea of heaven.
Lampeter
Lampeter is the home of the oldest University College in Wales. Although it is now part of the federal structure of the University of Wales, Saint David's University College is the oldest degree-awarding institution in Wales and England after Oxford and Cambridge.
There is splendid countryside scenery to be enjoyed in the Lampeter area - and wonderful angling on the river Teifi. The Fishing
Now Celtic Lakes Resort offers superb fishing on 6 waters of varying sizes, all heavily stocked with carp to 30lb+ and catfish to 60lb+ as well as a mix of coarse fish including tench, roach, rudd, perch and bream. Night fishing is allowed and Celtic Lakes welcome touring caravans, tents and bivvies.
In December 2006, the main specimen lake was stocked with over 70 carp weighing between 15lb and 20lb and 2007 will see the arrival of specimen carp to well over 40lb in addition to 350 carp between 2lb and 10lb of which 100 weigh over 10lbs.
In addition to the big carp, Celtic Lakes has also been granted a licence to stock catfish and the first of these arrived early in 2007. Weighing between 20lb and 60lb, these fish will help elevate Celtic Lakes to Wales' premier catfish venue and one of the UK's finest big fish waters.
Not only is Celtic Lakes a superb self-contained resort in its own right, it also visitors the chance to explore the beautiful beaches and towns of West Wales, no more than a stone's throw away.
John Carney, owner of Celtic Lakes Resort:
"As far as the fishing goes at Celtic Lakes, I am trying to link with serious anglers who want serious sport with accommodation which will appeal to those who want to enjoy comfort in delightful surroundings and will feel happy to bring their wives and families or organise a holiday with friends which combines specimen hunting or pleasure angling with sophisticated accommodation and facilities"
Ceredigion (Cardigan Bay)
One of the last bastions of the Welsh language and culture, Ceredigion offers award-winning beaches and a network of spectacular walking, cycling and mountain biking routes together with a plethora of opportunities for angling in Cardigan Bay, on rivers, in lakes and fisheries.
Activities:
Located on the shores of Cardigan Bay and sheltered to the east by the massive Cambrian Mountain range, the geography of Ceredigion makes it particularly suited to hosting a very broad range of activities within a comparatively compact area.
Nautical pursuits are well catered for with Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, New Quay and Cardigan all offering harbour facilities and launching facilities for smaller craft also being available at a number of coastal villages.
Generally, however, the main activities drawing thousands upon thousands to Ceredigion every year, involve walking, angling, cycling and golf.
